naturopathic doctor

Our Covid-19 Response

Your health and safety and ours is of utmost importance to us.  Wherever possible, we are still recommending telephone or telemedicine appointments to reduce traffic in our building as well as providing service to those who prefer to stay at home.  We have made many changes in how we operate to ensure your safety while you are with us in office for your appointment.  Please read below for more detail and explanation of our changes.

Your Arrival to the Clinic:

  1. Timing.  Please arrive at the time of your appointment and no earlier than 5 min before your scheduled appointment.   We have removed most of the seating in our waiting room to accommodate for a 2m distance between individuals.  If Dr. Attema are running behind Andrea will do her best to let you know or if you arrive, you may be asked to go for a short walk.
  2. Masks. Both Dr. Jenna Waddy and Dr. Rikst Attema will be wearing masks. We also will ask that you wear a mask. Please bring your own cloth or disposable mask for all in-person appointments. If you do not have a mask one will be provided. You will notice that Andrea is not wearing a mask - however she will have a corner of plexiglass for protection.
  3. Hand Sanitizing. After entering the clinic, we ask that you wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or longer in one of the patient washrooms or thoroughly apply the hand sanitizer that is available at the front desk.  We ask that you do this again after leaving the a consultation/treatment room.
  4. Health and History Assessment. Before arriving at the clinic, you will be required to do a self assessment which you must pass in order to physically come into the clinic.  You can access the tools for this assessment here: https://bc.thrive.health/ .   We will be asking you these questions again at your entrance to the clinic. We thank you for your kind cooperation. If for any reason - you answer yes to any of the questions you will not be able to come into the clinic and you should call 811 for further guidance.
  5. Movement through the building. To facilitate social distancing guidelines we have implemented a flow through the building in a one way direction (counter clockwise).  There will be arrows to direct you as well as guidance from others if needed.

Clinic Physical Distancing + Sanitization Efforts:
  1. Number of Patients and practitioners in the building. The Matraea centre historically has been a busy place full of families and patients coming in and out of the building.  This is no longer the case and as a building, all practitioners are committed to the health and safety of those coming in.  Traffic through the building is much much reduced and we will continue to monitor flow through the building and keep it at a minimum.
  2. Waiting Time. We have left ample time between patients to reduce the number of people in the clinic at one time and also to allow for adequate disinfecting between patients. We ask for your patience with us while we perfect our new systems. We will do our best to be on time for your appointment but are still learning our new procedures and some unanticipated wait times might be possible.
  3. No Visitors. We ask that you please do not bring visitors with you to your appointments. Please come alone to the clinic for your appointment.  Children will need to be accompanied by an adult if the consultation is for the child. Please speak with Andrea if you feel you need to bring someone with you.
  4. Cleaning Details. We are doing a lot to keep you safe. We have acquired all the necessary PPE essential in protecting and preventing the spread of COVID19. All sanitization products follow the Health Canada guidelines from hand sanitizers, hand wipes, and disinfecting products. Our frequency of cleaning and disinfection is dependent on the nature of use and contact of the item in question. Our clinic disinfects all patient contact items between each patient’s use. Examples are but not limited to treatment tables, headrests, arm rests, chairs, physical exam equipment, contact surfaces, diagnostic tools, procedural work surfaces, commonly touched areas, light switches, door handles, taps, toilets, handrails, counter tops, mobile devices, keyboards, pens, and towels.
Clinic Amenities’ Use:
  1. Washroom Use. Please use the washroom before your visit to the clinic.  We do have washrooms available but are trying to limit their use.
  2. Personal items. Please leave any jackets, coats, extra bags you don’t require in your car or at home and do not bring these into the clinic.
  3. Toys and Books. We have eliminated all books, magazines, toys from the waiting area and treatment rooms.
Contactless Exit:
  1. Payment.  Our preferred method of payment is tap via credit or debit however, if over $200 then you will use your card.  The debit machine will be sanitized after each use.
  2. Dispensary items for pick up.   We will continue to provide porch pick up service through our courtyard at this time.  This greatly reduces the traffic coming through our building.  Please arrange with Andrea any items you may require and a time for pick up. If you have an appointment with either Dr. Waddy or Dr. Attema, you may pick up your items at the end of your appointment.
We Are Here for You, Safely and Conveniently:
  1. Hours. Our new physical clinic hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 8:30-3:30pm
  2. Please Consider Phone consults and Telemedicine. We continue to offer Virtual Telemedicine Consults and phone consults to all patients and are recommending this for all patients not requiring an in person treatment or consult.

We thank you for your patience during this time. Please reach out if you have any questions and/or concerns.  We are excited to see you in the office again as we have missed seeing our patients!
